What can I expect from my first appointment?Your initial appointment is mostly about getting to know you and figuring out what’s going on with your body. Here’s what you can generally expect: 📝 1. Initial Paperwork (if you haven’t done it prior to appointment) You might need to fill out some forms about your medical history, current symptoms, and any relevant injuries or conditions. The medical questionnaire is available to complete when you receive a confirmation email regarding your appointment. 👂 2. Discussion / History Taking Caroline will chat with you to understand: What’s bothering you (pain, weakness, mobility issues, etc.) When and how it started Your daily activities, job, and lifestyle Past injuries, surgeries, or conditions Your goals (e.g., pain relief, getting back to sport, improving posture, etc.) 👣 3. Physical Assessment A hands-on and visual assessment will be completed. This could include: Posture check Range of motion testing (how well your joints move) Strength testing Palpation (feeling around for tight or tender spots) Functional tests (like squats, walking, or balance tests, depending on the issue) 💡 4. Diagnosis & Explanation Based on what they find, I will explain: What they think is causing the problem How sports therapy can help Rough idea of how long recovery might take 🛠️ 5. Treatment Plan You’ll usually get a treatment plan that might include: Manual therapy (massage, joint mobilization, etc.) Exercises (strengthening, stretching, mobility) Advice on posture, activity modification, etc. Possibly modalities like cupping therapy, dry needling etc. 🏋️ 6. Home Exercises I will give you exercises to start doing at home right away. This is a big part of your recovery! ⏭️ 7. Next Steps I’ll talk about how often your follow-up appointments will be, if needed. If you have any specific injury or area of concern, I can tailor this info more closely to what your first session might involve!

What do I need to bring? For a sports therapy appointment, it’s pretty simple, but bringing the right stuff can make the whole experience smoother and more comfortable. Here's what to bring and consider: 1. Comfortable, Loose Clothing Something easy to change out of. You’ll typically be asked to undress to your shorts (and/or bra, for females) (you'll be covered with a towel), but wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. 2. Water Bottle Massage can release toxins from the muscles, and staying hydrated helps flush them out. You’ll probably be encouraged to drink water after the session. 3. Hair Tie (if you have long hair) To keep hair out of the way when you’re face down. 4. Payment Cash or card payment can be taken, at this will be taken at the end of the appointment/treatment. If you need an invoice or receipt please do ask for one. 5. A List of Any Problem Areas Mentally note or write down spots you want me to focus on (tight hamstrings, sore shoulders, etc.) Any recent injuries or conditions that I should know about too, can be completed in the medical form.
